GILDED CARAPACEGILDED CARAPACE is a set piece built on the AEGIS EXOPLATE, and every copy carries the same bonuses — the block is authored, not rolled, so there is no such thing as a badly rolled one.
It is worn from level 15, the requirement of the base underneath it rather than its own item level of 29 — which is why it can land in your hands long before it looks like it should.

Underneath the name it is a AEGIS EXOPLATE: The colony's premium defense line, THE FOUNDER-branded. The logo adds nothing ballistic, but it tests very well.
What it does
- MATERIALPLATE, which turns 2.2× what the same piece would in cloth. Plate is deep-campaign work: none of it drops below NIGHTMARE.
- ALSO DEMANDS17 STRENGTH to wear — heavier materials want a bruiser inside them.
- WEARS OUT130 hits taken before it falls silent. It is never destroyed — a worn-out piece still hangs on you contributing nothing until a repair kit brings it back.
A fresh find in the hands of a hero who has spent no stat points — the piece itself, with nothing of the wielder in it. Your own STRENGTH, DEXTERITY or INTELLECT lifts these from there, as does an item level found deeper than the requirement.
Its bonuses
Fixed on every copy. Only the base damage and armor moves, by a ±10% band rolled per drop — so two copies differ a little and a well-rolled one is worth keeping.

A boss's green kit, themed to one weapon class — this one to ranged. Wearing several pieces at once pays bonuses on top of each piece's own, and the thresholds stack, so the full kit carries every tier at once.

A set piece never falls out of a rarity roll. It is minted only from its boss's own table, on the rungs that table lists — which is what makes completing a kit a matter of going back rather than of getting lucky.
